Call for nomination for CGSA speaker of the year

Hi Friends,

  Hope you are doing well. It is time to send your nomination for CGSA speaker of the year.The nominee can be a scientist at any academic institution or can be from industry. Send the nominee's full name, area of research and it will be great if you explain in couple of sentences about why you have chosen him or her. Please, send it by Friday, May 25th. After getting all the nominations the speaker will be selected by vote through survey monkey.

CGSA Spring Meeting

The CGSA Spring is coming up on Friday May 6th, 2011 at 11 am (502 Rieveschl Hall). During this meeting we will vote on the recipient of the CGSA Student of the Year Award. In addition to that, we will be voting for new CGSA officers. If you want to nominate somebody or yourself to be a CGSA officer, just send us an email or write down name and position and put it in the box in the main office.

The Speaker of The Year 2011

The CGSA speaker of the year 2011 was Christy Haynes form the University of Minnesota. She visited UC on February 11th 2011 and spend a day with graduate students and faculty. The day started with breakfast and research presentations from four graduate students at Stratford Heights. The morning seesion was closed with a presentation by Christy about "Preparing Graduate Student Fellowship". After lunch with graduate students and a tour of the department, she received the Speaker of The Year Award 2011 from the CGSA and presented some of her research on "Electroanalytical Eavesdropping on Cellular Communication" at the Friday colloquium to the department. After the colloquium the department gathered for a reception.

Welcome to our new website!

The Chemistry Graduate Student Association (CGSA) is an organization whose primary function is to provide representation for graduate students enrolled in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cincinnati. The association has an active enrollment of nearly 125 graduate students. This is the approximate enrollment of the Department as virtually all students are active. Our group not only allows scientific interaction between different disciplines of Chemistry, but also fosters cultural interaction with people from diverse cultural heritages represented in our ranks. Finally, interactions outside the University are provided through sponsorship of prominent outside speakers and chemistry outreach program.
